Holy Cross Holds One-Year Rededication Celebration

May 17, 2010-
On April 4, 2010 Holy Cross Lutheran Church celebrated its first year after returning to its original church site at 6154 Press Dr. in New Orleans, during its regular morning service at 10:00 am. The church held its official re-dedication after Katrina on April 5, 2009 (Palm Sunday).

The congregation rejoiced with heartfelt thanks and special prayers to God for the first year of its return to ministry in the Pontchartrain Park Community. Holy Cross has been blessed in the number of active parishioners, with the congregation numbering just over 30 in the year of 2008 and now at an estimated 87. The celebration also included prayerful thanks to all the volunteers, the Southern District LCMS, RAI Ministries, Camp Restore, LINC New Orleans and all who assisted in dedicating their time, talents and treasures assisting in the return of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

Mr. Walter Schmudlach of Camp Restore was given the honor to lift high the Christ candle during the special prayers. Walter is surrounded by the choir, whose voices of praise are a blessing to him and all in attendance each Sunday. Top left-right: Alice Brooks, Woody Turbinton, Harding Berger Jr., Reginald Sanders.
